Amy D. Christensen is the managing partner of Christensen & Prezeau, PLLP.  For over twenty-eight years, she has been defending cases in state and federal court and before administrative agencies involving employment matters. Her litigation experience spans the full spectrum of workplace issues, including discrimination and retaliation, wrongful discharge, wage and hour violations, employment contract disputes, Family and Medical Leave Act violations, and noncompete agreements. Amy also defends personal injury, health care, and other civil matters.

In addition to her litigation practice, Amy advises a wide variety of large and small employers on legal matters related to performance management, termination, disability accommodation, workplace investigations, personnel policies, employment contracts, overtime compensation, and compliance with state and federal employment laws.

As part of her practice, Amy regularly conducts workplace investigations for public and private employers throughout the state on issues such as sexual harassment, workplace conflict, retaliation, and substance use.

Prior to forming Christensen & Prezeau, Amy was the managing partner at Hughes, Kellner, Sullivan and Alke, PLLP, where she had worked for sixteen years.

When she is not working, Amy can be found on the trails around Helena with her dogs, Annie and Betty, or spending time with her husband, Mark, and three daughters, Abby, Ellie, and Jane.

Cherche Prezeau is a founding member and managing partner of Christensen & Prezeau, PLLP. Cherche brings over thirty years of experience to the firm in the areas of construction law, real property and land use, personal injury defense, and labor and employment law. She has successfully represented clients before administrative tribunals, licensing agencies, and state and federal courts, including the Montana Supreme Court. In addition, she regularly provides advice and guidance to clients on contract-, employment-, insurance- and construction-related issues.

Cherche is a member of the Montana State Bar Construction Law Section and co-chair of the Montana Construction Law Seminar. She holds an AV Preeminent Rating from Martindale Hubbell and has been named as a Super Lawyer in the field of construction litigation in the Mountain States. Cherche serves as panel counsel for a number of insurance companies and regularly represents insureds in construction-related disputes and in employment and personal injury litigation.

Cherche enjoys spending time with her family outside - downhill skiing, hiking, or mountain biking. She can often be found on Helena’s trails with multiple dogs in tow.

Vicki Bignell is an associate attorney whose practice focuses on employment law and civil litigation. She represents clients in a wide range of matters, from defending lawsuits in state and federal court to navigating investigations by administrative agencies and licensing boards. Vicki also works closely with employers to proactively manage risk —offering practical guidance on personnel issues, workplace policies, and compliance with state and federal employment laws.

Before joining the firm, Vicki clerked for Chief Judge Brian Morris of the U.S. District Court for the District of Montana and Justice Laurie McKinnon of the Montana Supreme Court. She earned her J.D. with high honors from the Alexander Blewett III School of Law at the University of Montana, where she served as an executive editor of the Montana Law Review and competed on the National Moot Court team.

Outside of work, Vicki loves spending time exploring Montana’s beautiful outdoors with her husband, children, and their two dogs – Butter and Biscuit.

Jackson Maynard is an associate attorney at Christensen & Prezeau, PLLP. Jackson is a graduate of the University of Colorado Law School, where he participated in the Korey Wise Innocence Project and represented wrongfully convicted clients through the school’s clinical education program. During law school, Jackson also tried numerous cases, obtaining a conviction in his only felony jury trial. After law school, Jackson returned home to Helena, clerking for Montana Supreme Court Justice Jim Shea. Jackson’s practice focuses on representing clients in state and federal courts in the areas of construction law and general civil defense.

Since joining the firm, Jackson has played a key role in achieving successful outcomes for clients in matters before trial courts and the Montana Supreme Court, spanning a broad range of practice areas.

Fun fact: Jackson, a devoted baseball fan with an otherwise unremarkable string of luck, was in the stands for Félix Hernández’s perfect game.

Colin Phelps has been an associate attorney at Christensen & Prezeau, PLLP, since 2017. Colin spent the first five years of his life in the West African nations of Cameroon and Mali. He graduated from Hawthorne and Boston College prior to working for an organic dryland dirt farmer in Washington, D.C. Colin earned his J.D. with honors from the University of Montana School of Law in 2015, where he served as the symposium editor of the Montana Law Review. Following graduation, he clerked for two years for the Honorable Justice Beth Baker with the Montana Supreme Court.

Colin has successfully represented clients before administrative agencies, licensing boards, and in state and federal courts in the areas of construction law, real property and land use, labor and employment law and civil defense. Colin’s practice focuses primarily on construction law, and he represents clients involved in all aspects of the construction field, including developers, engineers and architects, general contractors, subcontractors, and material suppliers. Colin is a member of the Montana State Bar Construction Law Section and has spoken at several construction law conferences. Colin assists his construction clients with a wide range of issues including litigation, lien and payment issues, contract review and drafting, and employment issues.

When he is not in the office, Colin enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters, coaching soccer, skiing, fly fishing, hunting, backpacking, and everything else Montana has to offer.

Stuart Segrest is a senior attorney at Christensen & Prezeau, PLLP. He represents governmental and private clients in civil litigation, as board counsel, and on appeal. Before joining the firm, he worked for the Montana Attorney General’s Office, where his career spanned the terms of four different Attorneys General. There he handled extensive litigation and appellate work as Chief of the Civil Services Bureau, which represents the State of Montana in complex cases in both state and federal court. Prior to active practice, Stuart clerked for W. William Leaphart on the Montana Supreme Court. Outside of the office, Stuart enjoys recreating in Montana’s wild places with his family and the office dog, Teo.
